On 18 February 2026, the Ministry of Health of Myanmar issued Order No. 8/2026, enacted under Section 9 of the Essential Goods and Services Law.

The new Order introduces a ban to import, export, trade, possess, store, transport, distribute, use or consume a list of tobacco and nicotine products, and their related devices.

The products covered by the Order include electronic smoking devices, such as electronic cigarettes, heated tobacco products and electronic shisha, as well as their related components, including devices, parts, batteries, chargers and e-liquids (with or without nicotine), among others, and as appropriate.

The ban is effective immediately.
