The Global Diagnostics Coalition (GDC) is a WHO-managed informal network committed to strengthening diagnostics services worldwide through advocacy, awareness raising, dissemination and communication.

Who can apply
The GDC welcomes applications from entities (not individuals) across the following categories:
- government technical agencies
- UN agencies and intergovernmental organizations*
- nongovernmental organizations (including civil society groups)
- academic institutions
- private sector entities and international business associations
- philanthropic foundations.
* Multilateral government and UN agencies are requested to submit an expression of interest directly to the GDC Secretariat at gdxc@who.int.
Eligibility criteria
To be eligible for GDC membership, your entity must meet all of the following criteria:
- be consistent with WHO’s mandate, with aims and purposes that are consistent with the WHO Constitution and conform with WHO policies;
- contribute significantly to the advancement of public health and to the objectives, vision and goal of the GDC, and demonstrate documented support in the area of diagnostic medical devices and diagnostic services;
- be actively and internationally engaged in the field of diagnostics, with proven experience and expertise in the subject matter for at least the past two years;
- respect the intergovernmental nature of WHO and the decision-making authority of Member States as set out in the WHO Constitution;
- have a constitutive act (e.g. bylaws or charter), an established organizational structure, and accountability mechanisms in place; and
- if a membership organization, have the authority to speak for its participants and a representative structure.

Application form structure
The application form has seven sections:
- General information about the entity;
- activities of the entity;
- focal point for all GDC Secretariat communications;
- governance structure;
- financial information (list of institutional donors and sponsors);
- disclosures (tobacco and arms disclosure for non-state actors, and disclosure on engagement with other industries); and
- declaration by the authorized signatory.

Please note that completing this application does not guarantee eligibility or approval for GDC membership. All applications are reviewed and approved by the GDC Secretariat in accordance with WHO's rules and policies on a quarterly basis if not sooner.
