Survey on implementation of interventions addressing loneliness and social isolation

This survey will inform the development of World Health Organization guidelines on interventions to address loneliness and social isolation.

You are being invited to take part because of your experience with an intervention (e.g. service, programme, activity, project) that helps people who feel lonely or are socially isolated.

We are interested in interventions that include one or more of the following elements:

  • Helping people meet others and build connections (social networking)
  • Providing companionship or emotional/practical support (social support)
  • Developing social and emotional skills that help build and maintain relationships (social or emotional skills training)
  • Changing social thoughts, attention, behaviours or emotions (psychological interventions and mindfulness)
  • Providing information about loneliness/social isolation and how to cope (psychoeducation)

We are particularly interested in interventions that are part of everyday practice and have supported a large number of people (at least 100), rather than small research-based projects or interventions.

If you are, or have been, involved in more than one intervention for loneliness or social isolation, please tell us only about the most relevant intervention (e.g. the one best integrated in everyday practice and/or having reached the largest number of people) or the most recent intervention.

Participation in this survey is voluntary. Your responses will be combined with those from other participants and reported in summary form only.

You do not need to provide your name or organisation to take part, and no individuals or organisations will be identified in any results. However, if you would like to be acknowledged for your participation, you may choose to share these details with us at the end of the survey, along with any relevant reports or links.

This survey is open for responses until 24 July 2026.

There are 45 questions in this survey.
