Background:
WHO recommends immunization against respiratory pathogens including seasonal influenza, SARS-CoV-2 (which causes COVID-19), and respiratory syncytial virus (RSV). Many countries experience challenges monitoring these immunization programmes given their unique target population groups and service delivery modalities, among other reasons. In particular, countries have reported difficulty in collecting, analysing, and reporting immunization coverage data. This manual provides data collection and analysis options, supportive tools, and examples for countries aiming to improve the quality of their immunization coverage data. The manual can also provide insight for monitoring immunization coverage during future respiratory pathogen pandemics that include immunization as a response measure.
This manual provides information applicable for countries that a) already have existing seasonal influenza, COVID-19, and/or RSV immunization programmes and monitoring processes that are looking to improve them or b) are exploring or planning to introduce seasonal influenza, COVID-19, and/or RSV immunization programmes.
