The center, through its employees, provides, follows up and completes government transactions for the target group, such as renewing their official papers, whether a health card, passport or identity card, with ease and comfort, in a manner that suits their health status and facilitates the delivery of services to their homes. Kholoud Al Ali, Director of the Elderly Services Center, stated that the number of services provided by the “Ijaba” service has reached 2,692 services, since the launch of the initiative until now, and the elderly and people with disabilities have benefited from it. The services were divided as follows: renewing 599 health cards, 518 identity cards, 596 passports, and facilitating the procedures for the Sand card for 443 beneficiaries, in addition to facilitating the procedures for data for funds, pension authorities and aid granting agencies from homes and transferring documents by the means available to the agencies for 536 beneficiaries. The Director of the Senior Citizens Services Center explains the mechanism of work in this initiative, which has greatly reduced the burden and time on the elderly and people with disabilities, saying: In the past, we used to seek the help of case managers who take care of cases registered with the department, so that we could understand the status of the case. From here, we knew that there was a shortcoming or delay in renewing the identification and important documents, after which we would contact the case and ask them to allow us to complete their papers. They can either accept or refuse and they have the complete freedom to choose, as we want to provide them with comfort. However, in the second phase, which we consider a proactive phase, we worked to use the department’s data to identify cases in need of these services, and the requests became more numerous. We also coordinated with the relevant government agencies to facilitate these procedures, such as the Sharjah Electricity and Water Authority, Sharjah City Municipality, Sharjah Economic Development Department, the Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship, Customs and Ports Security, and such services: renewing the identity card, renewing the health card, paying bills, and clearing some transactions. As for the financial cost, it is divided between the department and the beneficiary, and in exceptional cases it is at the expense of the department or at the expense of the beneficiary himself.

The “Ijaba” service, launched by the Sharjah Social Services Department in 2022, aims to provide services to those registered in the Home Care Center, including the elderly and people with disabilities registered in Sharjah and in all branches of the department.
