The Sharjah Social Services Department is preparing to announce the results of the elderly-friendly institutions that won the fifth session of the Elderly Friendly Institution Award, which was launched by the “Sharjah Age-Friendly Office” in 2020, as the winners will be announced during the 13th Elderly Services Forum, which is scheduled to be held from 3-10 at Al Jawaher Hall for Events and Conferences, and also coincides with the International Day of Older Persons.<\/p>\n

According to Asmaa Al-Khudari, Director of the Sharjah Age-Friendly City Office at the Sharjah Social Services Department, the award develops from year to year and the number of institutions in the emirate wishing to participate in it increases, based on their social responsibilities, specifically towards the elderly, in honor and reverence of them. Indeed, during the evaluation visits to the participants, we noticed a lot of progress in the field of innovation in providing supportive and supportive services to the elderly, and sometimes exceeding the standards set by the guide for institutions friendly to the elderly, which increases our conviction in the award and the necessity of its continuation, as it is a great incentive for governmental, private and semi-governmental institutions to participate in the initiative, by creating programs and services that help the elderly, facilitate their lives and daily lives, and contribute to their integration into society.<\/p>\n

Alya Al Ali, the award committee\u2019s rapporteur, stated that 21 institutions applied for the award, while 15 of them met 80% of the approved criteria, which revolve around the engineering environment, services, facilities and social empowerment of the entity so that it takes into account elderly clients.
