Growing old nowadays in an Age-friendly city : integration, discrimination and role of public policies&#8221;, a thesis written by Ang\u00e9lique Giacomini, Deputy Executive Director of the Francophone Network of Age-friendly Cities and PhD in Sociology<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This PhD work aims to analyse the way French cities seize and implement the Age-friendly Cities approach on their territories. Thanks to semi-guided interviews, a second data analysis and active observation, we studied how thirteen French cities decided to implement the Age-friendly Cities approach.<\/p>\n<p>This work of research revolves around ideas about how to combat ageism, about the importance of consulting the inhabitants and of using a cross-disciplinary way of work. Like that, it aims to analyse how French cities adapted their local public policies in coherence with the frame given by the Age-friendly Cities approach, the national policies and\u00a0 the recommendations of the international bodies, all that linked with an unprecedented demographic context. That way, we have been able to determine some main criteria likely to modify, in depth, the public policies initiated by local authorities, enabling them to go out from a medico-social reasoning of assistance and to get closer to a way of work taking into account older people and considering them as inhabitant and stakeholders of the city.<\/p>\n<p>Carried out thanks to a\u00a0CIFRE contract (a French agreement allowing passing a PhD while working for a company) within the Francophone Network of Age-friendly Cities, this study was necessary to answer practical objectives related to the adaptation of training offers and support measures for elected representatives and professionals, in charge of the implementation of the Age-friendly Cities approach in the member cities.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>You can read it here (only in French) : <a href=\"https:\/\/extranet.who.int\/agefriendlyworld\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/These_Angelique_Giacomini-1.pdf\">These Angelique Giacomini<\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>&#8220;Adaptation de la soci\u00e9t\u00e9 fran\u00e7aise au vieillissement. Vieillir aujourd&#8217;hui dans une Ville amie des a\u00een\u00e9s :<br \/>\nint\u00e9gration, discrimination et r\u00f4les des politiques publiques&#8221;, th\u00e8se r\u00e9dig\u00e9e par Ang\u00e9lique Giacomini, D\u00e9l\u00e9gu\u00e9 G\u00e9n\u00e9rale Adjointe du RFVAA et Docteur en sociology <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Ce travail de th\u00e8se porte sur l&#8217;analyse de l&#8217;appropriation et de la mise en \u0153uvre de la d\u00e9marche Villes Amies des A\u00een\u00e9s (VADA) par les communes fran\u00e7aises. Sur la base d&#8217;entretiens semi-directifs, d&#8217;une analyse secondaire de donn\u00e9es et de l&#8217;observation active, nous avons \u00e9tudi\u00e9 la fa\u00e7on dont treize communes fran\u00e7aises se sont engag\u00e9es dans la mise en \u0153uvre de la d\u00e9marche VADA.<\/p>\n<p>Articul\u00e9 autour des notions de lutte contre l&#8217;\u00e2gisme, de consultation des habitants et de transversalit\u00e9, ce travail de recherche tend \u00e0 analyser la fa\u00e7on dont les communes fran\u00e7aises ont fait \u00e9voluer les politiques publiques locales sur la base de la d\u00e9marche VADA, en coh\u00e9rence avec les politiques nationales et pr\u00e9conisations des organisations internationales, dans un contexte d\u00e9mographique in\u00e9dit. De cette fa\u00e7on, nous avons pu d\u00e9terminer des crit\u00e8res principaux susceptibles de g\u00e9n\u00e9rer une modification en profondeur des politiques publiques initi\u00e9es dans les collectivit\u00e9s territoriales, leur permettant de s&#8217;extraire d&#8217;une logique m\u00e9dico-sociale d&#8217;assistance au profit d&#8217;une prise en compte et d&#8217;une inclusion des personnes \u00e2g\u00e9es en tant qu&#8217;habitants et acteurs de la cit\u00e9.<\/p>\n<p>R\u00e9alis\u00e9e dans le cadre d&#8217;un contrat CIFRE au sein du R\u00e9seau Francophone des Villes Amies des a\u00een\u00e9s, cette \u00e9tude a \u00e9merg\u00e9 afin de r\u00e9pondre \u00e0 des objectifs pratiques quant \u00e0 l&#8217;adaptation des dispositifs d&#8217;accompagnement et de formation des \u00e9lus et professionnels pilotes des d\u00e9marches.<\/p>\n<p>A lire ici : <a href=\"https:\/\/extranet.who.int\/agefriendlyworld\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/These_Angelique_Giacomini-1.pdf\">These Angelique Giacomini<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>&#8220;Adaptation of French society to aging.
