On the 9th of May 2019, Municipalidad de Cartago hosted the annual “Juegos Dorados” (Golden Games) at the municipal sports facility Polideportivo de Cartago. Around 350 senior citizens from our canton and neighbor ones attended and participated at the games. Different sports and recreational disciplines were held, dominoes matches, penalty kicks, bowling, choreographies and ring toss were among the activities. The Games intended to promote physical activity and mental health among the elderly, and also open motivational spaces and community participation.\u00a0At the same time the fact of being able to relate and share anecdotes and experiences with people from their same age group make these types of activities full of enthusiasm and joy.<\/p>\n

An important part of the success of this day was the voluntary collaboration of the young students of the Professional Technical College of Dulce Nombre, their help was an essential part for the development of the games.<\/p>\n

El 9 de mayo de 2019, la Municipalidad de Cartago organiz\u00f3 los “Juegos Dorados 2019” en el Polideportivo Municipal de Cartago. Alrededor de 350 adultos mayores de nuestro cant\u00f3n y cantones vecinos asistieron y participaron en los juegos. Entre las actividades se llevaron a cabo diferentes disciplinas deportivas y recreativas, partidos de domin\u00f3, penales, bolos, coreograf\u00edas y lanzamientos de anillos. Los Juegos pretend\u00edan promover la actividad f\u00edsica y la salud mental entre las personas mayores, y tambi\u00e9n abrir espacios de motivaci\u00f3n y participaci\u00f3n comunitaria. Al mismo tiempo, el hecho de poder relacionarse y compartir an\u00e9cdotas y experiencias con personas de su mismo grupo etario hace que este tipo de actividades est\u00e9n llenas de entusiasmo y alegr\u00eda.<\/p>\n

Una parte importante del \u00e9xito de este d\u00eda fue la colaboraci\u00f3n voluntaria de los j\u00f3venes estudiantes del Colegio T\u00e9cnico Profesional de Dulce Nombre, su ayuda fue una parte esencial para el desarrollo de los juegos.<\/p>\n
